Hydrangea
Hydrangea
The hydrangea has a wide range of meanings, from heartfelt emotion to gratitude to boastfulness. In Japan, where the flower was originally discovered, it is linked to apologies and gratitude. An emperor supposedly gave Hydrangeas to a maiden he loved as an apology for neglecting her when other business took up all his attention. Other meanings include love, grace, and forgiveness; each meaning stems from different cultural beliefs and stories, and can be associated with a specific color. Hydrangeas bloom in pink, blue, white and purple. This magnificent bead highlights the best of these colors.
The handmade glass flameworked bead has an outside dimension of approximately 16mm and a hole size of approx. 4.25mm. The bead also has a sterling silver (.925) core.
**Please note that each bead is individually hand crafted and some slight differences will occur. Sizes and designs may vary slightly. Pictured chain is not included but is available for purchase here.
The Wildflower Collection
Wildflower is a term that refers to flowering plants that grow naturally in the wild and wild doesn’t just refer to open meadows or woodlands; it can also include urban areas such as vacant lots or cracks in a sidewalk. It is often amazing how such plants will thrive, when all the odds seem to be stacked against them. There’s a fine line between weed and wildflower – one person’s attractive plant can quite easily be another person’s troublesome weed.
The dictionary also defines wildflowers as a plant that grows “without deliberate cultivation,” which perfectly describes the process in which each bead in this collection is made. No two beads are exactly the same and the patterning on each bead is also unique. The color of each bead evokes visions the flower for which it is named and brings delight to all who wear them.
